Okotoks Go2 Community Champion November 2008: Indoor Cycling

Okotoks Indoor Cyclists

Cold weather is no excuse for those who are truly committed.  This group of cyclists is living proof.  They take their cycle training indoors in the winter to maintain, and even build their bike fitness through the winter.

Using a unique indoor bike training system at Natural High Fitness in the Okotoks Rec Centre, these riders are able to repeat the same rides they did outside in the summer, or try one of hundreds of other rides from around the world. The ‘computrainer’ indoor cycling system allows them to compete with each other, while maintaining training zones designed specifically for their current bike strengths and weaknesses.

The classes offered at Natural High attract cyclists with many backgrounds.  Some of the riders have literally just purchased their bikes and have never ridden outside, while others are age group national triathlon and cycling champions.  Many riders from the Highwood Cycling Club also participate to prepare for their next competitive cycling season.

Because each session begins with tests to determine each rider’s current level, each class from that point forward can be catered to the unique needs of that rider, so everyone gets their own workout.  This makes the computrainer classes one of the best options for results oriented indoor winter riding.  So follow the example of these dedicated cyclists; don’t let the cold weather stop you from doing what you love.

Stay active by finding indoor fitness alternatives.
